Catherine Rive artist in education
As a resident artist in education specialising in Early Years Catherine works in alongside educators developing the children’s creative and critical thinking skills.
The children are curious about the world around them Catherine works with educators to create opportunities for the children to encounter a wide range of media and materials. As the children become confident and skilled, they begin to use the materials to communicate and represent their understanding, emotions, discoveries, and questions about the world around them.
This gives them opportunity to voice their ideas, explore their interests and tell their stories. Through these projects we make connections, build relationships, develop links with the community and engage children and their families with their surrounding natural and urban environment.
Catherine delivers training to support educators working creatively with children:
Hands on Clay, Exploring Light, Colour and Reflection, Materials and Process - Sculpture, The language of Photography and Film, Paint and Colour Mixing, Drawing from Observation with young children.
